6 Fashion Pieces I've Been Eyeing Up For Spring/Summer

When next seasons items are out, I like to browse online to see what is in store fashion wise, and when I mean browse I mean hours of endless scrolling on every online shop known to man. These are a few pieces I came across for spring/summer 2016.

These ASOS Denim Mom Shorts are the perfect pair of simple shorts for when the sun is out. I find a lot of denim tend to have rips in them so it's nice to find a not tampered with pair of shorts. They are perfect to pair with a plain tee and a blue denim jacket for little extra warmth, because lets face it, in England 'just shorts weather' is very rare. Moving onto shoes, I love the look of these ASOS Leather Knotted Tie Leg Sandals. I can imagine some funky tan lines as a result of these but they are so worth it, a little bit of something extra to the simple sandal. This Topshop Belted Shirtdess is so chic for the warmer months and can be paired with converse for a casual look and black sandal heels for a night time look. Now for accessories, I believe that with every season comes a new bag and in the spring/summer months I tend to stray away from the 'fit everything but the kitchen sink' type bags I tend to normally go for. This small and simple white Topshop Mini Leather Crossbody Bag is perfect, it matches with pretty much anything and is just big enough to fit in the essentials. Next, a playsuit is something every women should have in her wardrobe, especially for those 'I really can't be bothered to choose an outfit' type days, just throw one piece on and you're ready to go with this Topshop Crinkle Bardot Playsuit. The last fashion piece for spring/summer is the Topshop MOTO Short Denim Dungaree, I have been seeing these everywhere and they are really making a comeback. These definitely takes me to my toddler days and I am loving it.      

Collective Beauty Haul

I love a good collective beauty haul, they are the main enabler of the multiple order confirmation emails I get from Cult Beauty and Space NK. Even though I am aware of the damage these posts do, I still very much enjoy reading them so I though I would do one myself. As this is a collective beauty haul I have tried all of these products so you will get a mini review in this post too! I hope you enjoy reading about these products and may this brings many confirmation emails your way ♥

I am going to introduce this collective haul with my favourite and most loved product in my collection now, the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I have heard so many people rave on and on about this foundation but this is the first time ever trying this and boy, am I glad I did. The finish is so stunning with a medium but build-able coverage, I find with a lot of medium finishes they tend to look cakey but this one does nothing of the sort. A perfect foundation and look out for a full review soon!

This Morphe 12NB eyeshadow palette is one of the best in terms of value for its money, with twelve generous sized eyeshadows in beautiful, pigmented colours. I love the colour range, however the formula of some, but not all, of these shadows aren't my favourite. The lighter shades, specifically the first two lightest swatches, are slightly chalky if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, these eyeshadows are amazing for the money you are spending, but compared to others such as Lorac, MAC and Urban Decay, they don't give off that lovely buttery kind of feel to them. All in all I recommend this palette for the price and gorgeous shades they include but keep in mind the texture if you are a fan of the higher priced palettes.

I was lusting over the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and Cult Beauty temped me to a discounted set of 20% off with the Becca Correcting Eye Brightener, so of course I couldn't pass up the deal of both right? I will explain my thoughts on the Becca Backlight Priming Filter below but as for the corrector I didn't love using this for it's purpose, which was to mainly use under your concealer. I found it to be very creasing when used with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, and I never have a creasing problem with that concealer. Having said this I do make a use for this product on 'no makeup, makeup days', I use this for the only product under my eyes with a bit of tinted moisturiser and it creates a lovely bright completion and under eye area. If you want to get a bit more creative with this product, this is also a lovely creamy highlighter for the high points of the face. All in all, I wouldn't purchase this again but as I have it in my collection I am putting use to it.  

Now for the beautiful, luminous Becca Backlight Priming Filter. This stuff is amazing. There not really much else to say about it apart from that it gives a beautiful glow to the skin, one of those products that will subtly make a difference in your base. I haven't found this to extend or compromise wear time of foundations but it does create a lovely canvas to apply your makeup to. This can also be used to mix into any foundation that tends to make your skin a bit dull and will completely transform it. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a bit of glow to your skin.

Lastly, the ever so lovely Estee Lauder EE Cream. I was very tempted by this product from reading ViviannaDoesMakeup talk about this in one of her videos, and naturally along with most things she reviews, I had to give this one a go. I love using this as a base on a good skin day or very minimal makeup days. I have heard about using this under makeup as a moisturiser base but would only recommend doing this for more matte finish foundations and possibly not with oily skin as it can all become a bit too much glow and result in a bit of oil face look. Overall I do love this product and it makes for beautiful moisturiser that gives your skin the perfect glow and tint.

3 Eyeshadow Palettes I Can't Live Without

There are so many eyeshadow palettes out on the market but I find it's very hit and miss. I have tried out a lot of different palettes from a variety of brands but there are only a few that I would keep if I had to clear out the 'stash'.

Now lets start with the queen of all eyeshadow palettes, Urban Decay. In my opinion you really can't go wrong with an eye palette from this brand, the formula, pigment and variety of colours they provide in these are amazing. I currently own all three of the naked palettes and the first naked basics palette but there are only two that I feel like I need.

First, we have the ever so lovely Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay. I was never really into the pink tones when this hit the stores and never got the hype, but a friend purchased this and after trying it I completely understood. You can do pretty much anything with this palette, for an everyday look I love the shades 'Strange' all over the lid with 'Limit' and 'Nooner' in the crease. If you want to smoke things out then they have the most beautiful black with purple tones, a colour you will most likely struggle to find in your collection.

Next, the Naked Basics palette. This can be used for a simple, beautiful day and night look. This palette contains six shades, one with slight shimmer but nothing too glittery and five matte shades. The shades are super simple and contain three light cream shades (with a yellow toned and peach toned colour), two browns that are perfect for the crease ('Naked 2' and 'Faint') and one completely black shade ('Crave'). This allows you to create a very light, everyday look and also smoke out the eye for after hours.

You've probably heard enough about Urban Decay so I'm going to go onto my most loved, most versatile palette I own- the Lorac Pro Palette. This really is all it's cracked up to be and more. The top row contains eight, gorgeous pigmented shades, mainly mattes, with some creams, browns and a mauve colour whereas the bottom row is all about the shimmers with a mix of nudes, golds and they've even thrown in a burnt orange and blue toned grey. My all time favourite shade is the 'Nude', I use this for an all over the lid colour, inner corner and brow bone highlight, I will also apply it onto the high points of my face. If they ever make this as a highlight shade I would be all over that.

My Beauty Must Haves

These are a collection of products I have kept repurchasing more times that I can keep track of, plus a new favourite must have from Kevin Aucoin.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, in the shade Fair 1 This is one of those products that I will keep repurchasing and going back to no matter what concealer I try. I have tried concealers from Bobbi Brown, Nars, Makeup Forever and so many more but nothing can beat this one, and for £4.19 that is a winner in my books.

La Rouche Posay Effeclair Duo Plus I first started using this when my skin was not in the best way acne wise and I haven't stopped using it since. I don't know if this was the product that changed my skin but it certainly contributed as this was the only think I haven't changed in my skincare routine and its still going strong! I use this all over my face as a moisturiser type product then apply Aveeno Moisturising Cream to the drier areas.

Burts Bees Lip Balm This really does what it says on the tin, just a lip balm but a damn good one! This is super moisturising but the thing that wins me is I have to apply it once throughout the day and never again until bed. I have used this for at least four years and don't think I will ever stop.

Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder, in the shade Medium This is a new edition to my bronzer/contour products and boy do I love it. It may not look like it but I have had this for long but it has been quite a few months and it looks like I've barely touched the pan. This is a beautiful contour shade that is not orange or muddy and gives a perfect grey shadow-esque contour on the face.    

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder Hands down the best hair product if you have hair that lacks a bit of life sometimes. After I style my hair whether it is straight or wavy I will sprinkle this on the roots and it gives a perfect 'oomph'. This is also one of this products that you can transform slept on second day hair to make it look freshly washed, I really can't say anything bad about this.

My Brow Routine

Recently I have started filling out my brows and I really don't know what I was doing before this. Since I am a brow 'newbie' quick and easy products is what I search for, and the combo I am currently using does just that. 

The first brow products I used were the NYX eyebrow gel in the colour 'blonde' paired with the NYX tinted brow mascara in the colour 'blonde' to set them. While I did like these products I found filling out my brows with the eyebrow gel was a bit of a faff, it just look too much time and not a great brow outcome every time.    

To replace the eyebrow gel I decided to pick up the holy grail of all eyebrow products- the Anastasia Brow Wiz in the colour 'Caramel'. This new combo I am using is perfect for my colour and super simple to use in my opinion. If you are a redhead like me, I find it pretty hard to match the colour of my brows and Anastasia products definitely does the job. I still use the NYX tinted brow mascara in 'blonde' to set them which does wonders and makes sure they do not budge throughout the day.

TRESemmé Expert Beauty Full Volume Reverse System

I have tired many volume shampoos, many of which are great shampoos but they don't really give you that volume effect that it says of the bottle. Until I found this gem. This really does what it says on the tin, and to add to this it smells like a dream (if you dream of trips to a fancy hair salon of course). I love trying out new shampoos and seeing the result on my hair, so this one was exciting for me- not only it is a new volume shampoo but I also got to try out the reverse system, and let me tell you, I am a big fan. This reverse system paired with the shampoo and conditioner does wonders to your hair. 

If you want to know a little background on my hair type it's a little on the thin side and very straight naturally when air dried. So when I find something that gives it volume and a little bit of omph I am all for it. If you have the same hair type as me then this might have the same effect for you but I think this would suit all hair types.

Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Set

You can imagine the pure joy I felt when receiving this beautiful set, then imagine the joy when I actually used them. Everything about this set screams luxury, from the sleek black handle to the touch of rose gold.

Aside from the look of the set, the quality is one to rave about too. This set includes a mix of natural and synthetic bristles shaped to perfection. First, lets talk about the 'Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush' aka the ultimate contouring tool. This brush fits perfectly in the hollows of my cheeks and picks up the perfect amount of product onto the brush (avoiding the dreaded mud face look). Another favourite of mine includes the 'Silk Finish Brush', also perfectly made for applying product in the best way. The 'Silk Finish Brush' creates a flawless finish to any foundation type, my personal favourite is to use this with the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. Last but not least, the 'Petite Crease Brush' has also made it into my favourites of this set. Granted this may be due to failed attempts in finding a really good crease brush, but also because the shape of the brush fits perfectly in my crease and packs on a great amount of product. 

All in all, I think you can tell that I am definitely a fan of Zoeva brushes and may be already eyeing up the Rose Golden Complete Set, Vol 1... 

My Pinterest Guide To Food Shopping

When it comes to food shopping its all a bit confusing figuring what things you actually need rather than want, then you find yourself with a basket of chocolate and snacks that go way over the budget. This has taken me a long time to get the hang of but I have finally found the ultimate guide to food shopping and eliminates all the things you don't need and sticks to the budget- all with the help of Pinterest.

So first I like to start out with a list of the basics, the stuff you always buy that won't change. Here's an example of what I add to my 'basics list'. 

The Basics

• Milk
• Butter

• Eggs

• Bread

• Fruit

• Pasta

• Rice

• Tea

• Coffee

I find it quicker and easier to do an online food shop so I will go through this list in my kitchen to see what I have in and add thing to the items I am out of to my basket. If you prefer to go into the store to do your shop then I recommend to keep this basic list on your phone then copy and paste this list to an new list with only the items you need to buy. 

Now comes the fun bit... Yes I think meal planning is fun.

Before my food shop I will find recipes that I want to make for the week ahead on Pinterest or online then add them to my Pinterest board. I have two broads that I use for this... my 'Meals' board and a board I make up each week for the meals I will be making.

The 'Meals' board is a collection of recipes I have pinned to make in the future, like an online collection of recipes. Then each week I will make a board of meals for the week and pin recipes from my 'Meals' board onto my weekly board. I will mainly pin dinner meals instead of lunch and breakfast since those meals are normally a 'make up on the go' type of thing with the ingredients I have in the kitchen.




Now that I have made my weekly recipes board, I start going through the recipes and add ingredients into my online basket. I normally do this pacing around the kitchen like a mad women searching through my cupboards to make sure I don't add something I already have.

Voila, that is my 'Pinterest Guide to Food Shopping'. This save so much money when cooking things from recipes and saves me craving for takeaway- but don't get me wrong, I still LOVE a good takeaway. This allows me to get more creative in the kitchen and play around with new recipes!

Blush: Powder, Loose, Cream or Liquid?

Nowadays you can find blush in pretty much any form, from liquid to mineral powder, the beauty brands have got you covered. This post is going to go through the main types of blush, where and how to wear them, with some recommendations thrown into the mix. 

bareMinerals Blush in Promise

This is the riskiest one of them all, but the finish is beautiful. Any skin type would suit this blush, as this product tends to be very finely milled and avoids the cakey look. So you won't find this clinging onto dry skin patches. I would recommend using a sparse brush for this type of blush product, you want to make sure that minimal product is picked up on the brush when you are applying. Remember you can always add product but it gets a little tricky taking it away! My favourite brush to use for this is the Real Techniques Blush Brush, the tapered end is great for applying product to the apples of the cheeks and the sparse bristles only pick up the amount needed. 

Topshop Cream Blush in Head Over Heels

The perfect one for that natural wash of colour. If you have dry or mature skin this is the blush to go for, its moisturising and will give that youthful glow. I find the best brush to use is a stippling brush, my favourite being the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. After I apply the product with the brush I use my fingers to blend it into the skin a bit more and you end up with a muted wash of colour and a lovely dewy glow.

Liquid Blush

The product I go for when I want that 'pinched cheeks' kind of look. If you have oily skin, liquid blush would be perfect for you as a stain will stay on you cheeks all day and not budge. This one is safest applied with your fingers, but you have to act quick with blending. Just put a drop or two on your fingers, apply on the apples of the cheeks and blend. If you need to eliminate that clownesque look then grab your foundation brush and lightly go over the blush to soften the colour.

MAC Powder Blush in Melba

Last but definitely not least is the trusty powder blush. Powder blush is good for any skin type dry, oily or combination. This one gives a simple but sophisticated look with a matte finish on the skin. These blushes tend to be quite pigmented depending on what brand you go for so I use a sparse tapered brush for this product, typically the Real Techniques Blush Brush (you can never go wrong with Real Techniques Brushes).  

Essie 'Lady Like'

I refer to this shade as the perfect fall purple, with spring and summer being lilac and winter as burgundy. If you like neutrals you will also probably be as in love with this shade as I am. And the name? Well the name really does match the shade. It oozes sophisticated lady in a bottle, but with a slight colour twist compared to the usual sheer pinks and nudes. The formula flaunts the usual Essie way- a non gloopy one, full of colour, with a thin brush for great application.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?: (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling

If you like the Mindy Project then you will like this, if you have never watched or heard of the Mindy Project but like an autobiography, with a bit of humour and wit thrown in- you will also like this. Mindy Kailing shares her experiences and life lessons but with a personal twist, showing that life is not what you see in the movies it's full of humour, less than ideal situations and a little embarrassing.

Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Women Tells You What She's Learned by Lena Dunham

Also an autobiography with both wit and honesty, you learn exactly how Lena Dunham got to where she is now. I am a big fan of her show Girls because of its truthful experiences never shown through rose coloured glasses. This is very much reflected in this book which is why I love it so much. If you are a girl in your twenties this is perfect for some life advice and reassurance that even if everything does not go to plan, doesn't mean you will fail.

The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
I have always been a lover of Nicholas Sparks, he writes the perfect love story that will definitely need a box of tissues along with it. This book is perfect read when you just want to relax (preferably with a glass of wine). This book writes the dramas of falling in love from a story of a past love and a current one. I won't give anything away, but when the two stories meet the twist will leave your heart melting.

Five Apps You Should Have For Blogging

Notes...
This app is great to jot down any ideas you have throughout the day. As I mentioned in my previous post 'Tips for Blogging in Full Time Education/Work' I might get ideas when I'm walking around in the day, from seeing outfit ideas or a nail polish colour someone is wearing.

Bloglovin'...
I use this app for a lot of things, to get ideas for blog posts from other bloggers, interact with bloggers and save tips to improve my blogging or a product I might want to try out. The app gives you notifications when someone you are following publishes a new post, so at a lunch break or throughout the day, this is great to give you something to read and interact with the bloggers by commenting. In this app you can also create Collections these are groups of saved blog posts from the bloggers, for example, I have a group called 'Blogging Tips' which consist of blog posts that have tips on how to improve my blog or blogging process.

Canva...
If you are creating an image for your blog post but feel like it's a bit sparse and needs a little something extra this app is the one. Canva has creative fonts and shapes to add to your images so it looks like graphic designer might have gotten their hands on it. I used this app for 'The Vitamin C Booster Smoothie' post, this made the perfect image to advertise my blog post on Pinterest and other social media.

Pinterest...

This is my place of inspiration if I am stuck in a blogging 'rut'. With all of the beautiful fashion, DIY, food and beauty photography you are bound to get an idea of what to write about. This is an app that I tend to scroll through in my spare time or when I'm commuting. Pinterest is also a place to promote your blog, I recommend adding the Pinterest botton to your blog pictures (go here for how to add this) so either your readers can pin your images or you can to advertise your posts to other 'pinners'.

Instagram...

This is another place of inspiration and a great way to promote your blog. Set up an account for your blog to show up and coming blog posts and interact with other bloggers. If you have written a blog post on the perfect slutty brownie recipe- show other bloggers and food lovers #foodporn. 

The Secret To Healthy Nails

This is an image of my nails completely natural, with no polish on!

My nails used to be in horrible condition- flaky, always broke and were never the same length. I have used a lot of products to try and find something that can help with them- O.P.I Nail envy, Dr. LeWinn's Nail Strengthener and home remedies such as olive oil with lemon. None of these really worked any wonders and the nail strengtheners were around £20 a bottle which just burnt a hole in my purse repurchasing them. 

That's until I found Rimmel Nail Rescue- it is bad but sometimes I do judge a book by it's cover or rather a nail polish my it's brand. This is not to say I don't love Rimmel products but I didn't think they would be any better than O.P.I so I never bothered trying them. Big mistake.

One of my friends introduced me to this and said she uses it as a base coat under her nail polish as well as on it's own. I noticed after a couple uses how much better my nails were looking, after purchasing a bottle and few more times of using it my nails weren't flaky anymore and thicker which meant less breakage.

Tips for Blogging in Full Time Education/Work

Schedule which days you will be posting...

This is simply to make a schedule, you can then plan when to write your blog posts around your week and other deadlines you will have. I have a schedule of posting 2 times a week, on Monday's and Thursday's. In my opinion this amount is manageable with other full time commitments. 

However saying that, some weeks differ- you can have a quiet week and you could manage to post 4-5 times a week, but then you could have a very busy week with only enough time to post 1-2 times a week. I tend to stick to the schedule and save blog posts for those busier weeks. Then, if you feel like you can handle more posts each week, increase it by another day and so on. 

Take as many photos as possible in your free time...

Taking pictures for you blog can be tricky sometimes, if you are just starting out blogging then you may not have the equipment such as light boxes, forcing you to rely on natural light. 

If you are working or studying full time, then chances are you will be doing that in the prime time to take pictures. Therefore, the weekend is the best time to utilise the natural light and take as many pictures as possible to plan for the week of posts ahead. 

Write lots of blog posts ready to publish...

As I mentioned before, some weeks will be busier than others and these very busy weeks can be stressful when you still need to write those blog posts. To put a stop to those rushed, stress filled posts  I write a collection of filler posts you could say. These tend to be posts like 'Links I've Been Loving' and 'Wishlists', I write these posts my spare time and only use them for those jam-packed weeks.

In addition to this, I will also write as many blog posts as possible in the weeks I'm not very busy so there is no worry about not having anything to publish.

Use a notes app on your phone to record new blog post ideas...

Sometimes bloggers can go through a bit of a bloggers block. To get as many ideas flowing as possible as soon as I think of one I write it down, otherwise I will probably forget it by the time I get home. I use the Notes app on my iPhone for this which works great because my phone is on me most of the time and I can quickly jot ideas down. An idea can come suddenly from anything from tasting something delicious to inspire a recipe to seeing how someone wore their kimono. 

Have posts ready for social media e.g. Instagram, twitter...

This is to keep up with social media, the more you are posting, the more people discover you and your blog. If you are a regular poster this will also help to maintain and raise your followers. However, in full time study or work there are some days where work is the only thing you have done and there is literally nothing exciting to report from your day. Try to refrain from not posting at all. Anything I see that I think would look great on my Instagram feed, I take a picture of it- but I limit my posts so I am not posting 5 times a day on the weekend and none at all in the weekdays. I try and stick to one a day or every other day- this all depends on the amount of images you tend to take per week.

After getting sent this Delphine Eyelet Lace Up Two Piece I can say that their pieces are the hight of luxury, with a great quality feel and a true to size fit (I am wearing size 6). I picked the Delphine Eyelet Lace Up Two Piece because of it's uniqueness. The lace up sides on the top not only follows the Cut-Out trend that I am loving for the summer but also allows you to have the perfect fit by adjusting the ties. The shorts are also a piece that I will not only be wearing with this top but also pairing it with some others in my wardrobe. They are so versatile and the high waisted fit shows off those curves beautifully.

@nataly0689 This is an account including different foods, fashion and lifestyle posts but what I love about this one is the many flowers and foliage that she includes in her images. I find these to add so much life and colour to her posts that accompany the overall neutral tone of her images very nicely.

@alice_bitmead Alice's account is a blend of bright and lively colours in the food she makes and the  various places she photographs. With her witty captions to go with these images her account has you scrolling for hours and hours. 

@k_a_t_h_r_i_n If you are wanting some healthy food inspiration this is the account to visit. Kathrin creates beautiful smoothie bowls topped full with endless superfoods and fruits, with stunning presentation. Her account gives off the most vibrant, colourful look with the natural foods she uses.

@ciderwithrosieblog Cider with Rosie is a collection of images that ooze English countryside with an exception of the tropical Thailand images from her honeymoon. I always feel very cosy when browsing through her account, this is probably more than likely from the morning coffee and breakfast in bed posts. 

@ihavethisthingwithfloors If you also have a thing with floors, I would recommend this account. It is full of regramed images from various floors all over the world with the most beautiful and unique designs, you almost wish this was a flooring catalogue.

@linda_lomelino Linda is a very talented photographer which is shown by her gorgeous recipes decorated and photographed to perfection. She also includes pictures of lovely, colourful exteriors wherever she travels. If you are looking for an account to follow with a mixture of lifestyle and irresistible recipes, Linda Lomelino is one to follow. 

@meghanrienks I just really enjoy to look at the whole bright and airy design of Meghan's account. She has created a beautiful wash of white across her account filled with her day to day life from the food she eats to the outfits she puts together.  

@_ponykiss_ This account is a mixture of food, travel and general everyday life. She has created an account of perfectly composed images that always tend to make me a tad jealous of wherever she is photographing these places. 

@alexcentomo Everything on this account is Pinterest worthy you could say. I first found Alex's account from watching her YouTube videos which are full of fashion, workout and hair tutorials that is reflected in her Instagram feed. One thing I have learnt from flicking through her images, is that you will get serious hair envy.
